The Igloo feed ring consists of an inner ring and an outer ring feeder which can be inserted into each other. First the round bale is placed in the inner ring standing on the ground, after which the outer ring is placed on top of the bale. The horses eat from top to bottom, and while they eat, the outer ring slowly falls down.
As the horses eat from the compressed end of the round bale, they only get hold of smaller hay bits, thus saving on feed waste.
The Igloo ring feeder offers protection from rain, both from above and from the side. The wet hay around the opening gets eaten quickly, while the hay remains dry further down.
The feed ring has a diameter of 140 cm and may hold bales with a diameter of up to 130 cm. Total weight is 60 kg.
